Help with breeding this mare? Hom Snowflake?
-
I have this mare.. I breed warmbloods, so I'd like to breed her to a good Snowflake stud in order to get a warmblood foal. Can I breed to a warmblood with light bones to get a warmblood foal or do I need to breed to a Riding horse stud?
What do I breed her with?! Lol
I really wanna get a good line of snowflakes.. do I need to breed to another snowflake to make the foal have snowflake?
Any and all help appreciated! Thanks all!

Snowflake is recessive, so if you want the foal to show the snowflake gene, you'll want to breed her to a snowflake stallion. A HOM stallion would guarantee the foal shows it. A Het stallion would give you a 50/50 chance, though the foal would still be a carrier either way.
She's right in the middle as far as bone goes for a draft. She'll factor into the bone weight range regardless of the stallion you breed her to but the lighter-boned he is, the more likely the foal will fall in the warmblood range. I'd recommend a stallion under about 2.25 for bone. I haven't seen a whole lot of riding horse snowflake stallions around but there might be a few! A lighter-boned warmblood might be easier to find.Thanked by 1KAMRanch -
So I got a 1.7 boned Wb Stallion and got a 2.25 draft foal.. dang.. was that random or would breeding her to him again potentially produce a WB still? What are the lightest Wbs?
Does anyone else have any Light Stallions out there?Breeder of Quality Warmbloods and Show Horses
