Futurity
  • So I bred a bunch of foals from other players horses hoping to get some futurity foals for a quest and i bred 50 something foals and only a few are eligible for futurity, am I doing something wrong or am I just unlucky?.
  • If you post your foals we can help you out. Did you pay attention to the eras when you were breeding?
Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.

I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

  • The stud was era 15 and it seems only the era 15 foals can be futurity locked. Is that correct?.
  • Foals must be the same era as the sire, so mares must be the same era or higher than the stud you breed them to.

  • Foals need to be the same era as their sire to qualify for the futurity. Foals do not have to be locked to qualify, but locking foals prevents accidentally selling them back to the game.

Mares to to be the same era or higher than the stallion they are bred to. So if you are using an era 15 stallion then you can breed era 15, 16, and 17 mares to him for futurity foals.
  • It sounds like you may not understand how the futurity works?

All foals under the age of 6 should be able to be futurity locked (I'm pretty sure, I might be wrong pn this part because I don't futurity lock foals).

In order for foals to win futurity awards for the stallion, they usually need to be 5 years old. So for example, if you breed to a stallion in order for him to show on the ERA 15 futurity, 10 of his 5 year old foals need to have really high total show points. Thats how the stallion qualifies for the futurity.

For a stallion to qualify for futurity the stallion must have 10 foals bred by someone other than the owner of the stallion (and anyone that has ever owned the stallion). Those foals need to be 5 years old (they can be younger but 5 year olds should have more points, than a 2 year old so I would say 5 year olds), the futurity score is the total combined score of the top ten highest pointed offspring of that stallion.

This is why it is crucial that futurity foals are entered in shows twice a week every single week to earn the maximum amount of points. You could do everything correctly, and someone else's foals may have more points.

I don't think your yearlings are old enough to be on the futurity board, based on the brief look at did at your horses.

Plus what HighstormFarm and Ammit said about the eras needing to be the same. Your Futurity foals in your primary barn are all mixed eras. Stallion is 15, foals are 12, 13 and 15.

Below is how foals are awarded for futurities (I bolded it). The stallion you picked (who is super cute by the way) is ranked 25th on the ERA 15 board. He'd need to be ranked at least 5th, for his foals to be awarded. I wouldn't be discouraged. Some of your ERA 15 foals from him might do well for you by December 28th when their 5 year old season is over.

    End of the year prizes
Stallion Futurities will award the following prizes on the 28th of this month. There must be a full list of 25 eligible stallions for prizes to be awarded.
Champion: 8 GMTs to the stallion owner, and 1 GMT to the owner of each of his 10 best foals.
Reserve Champion: 6 GMTs, and 1 GMT to the owner of each of his 10 best foals.
Third Place: 4 GMTs, and 1 GMT to the owner of each of his 8 best foals.
Fourth Place: 1 GMTs, and 1 GMT to the owner of each of his 6 best foals.
Fifth Place: 1 GMT, and 1 GMT to the owner of each of his 4 best foals.
    Ribbons to 10th place.

  • If you are participating in the Futurities simple to GMTs you likely won't start winning any until you foals are 4 and most likely 5. The exception would be when a new era starts. In general you will know if you are making good choices in about 4 to 5 months.

I also recommend breeding your mares to the top quality stallions for that era to maximize foal quality. Like for era 15 you should only be using ** or *** stallions. If you are using lower quality stallions then unless your mares are high quality you are less likely to do well, though there is a random factor to showing.
  • I think most of us would recommend breeding 5-10 foals per stallion that you would want to be futurity winning foals each season. Just make sure your showing foals twice a week every week. Thats super crucial.

Picking the higher quality stallions or popular stallions will also help. It will take a few months to be able to see a difference for awards.

  • Ah ok, the information guide didn't explain the futurity very well. Im only locking them to get the quest achievements. Thank you everybody for explaining how futurity works.
