My nexus line...
-
I don't have a lot of experience with the fantasy lines. How do you all decide to go forward with them. I have been contemplating just keeping my homo. nexus horses in tact. My problem is that most of mine are het. nexus.

I would keep the same guidelines as my normal gene horses. All boys need to compare superior to either a benchmark or their sir. All 2gen need to be papered B/red and so on going up Generations. If you cut them slack you will just end up with pretty horses that are not good for anything because their pt scores wont increase and neither will their breeding ability.

I've been mostly playing just for fun, but have started culling my lines by going through and papering everything (which was DEVASTATING!!) And getting rid of them accordingly. Then going through and comparison testing and only keeping superior to sire, etc.ID# 2353

To start with I treat them the same as any other line in regards to comp testing and paper levels. Then I try to get some diversity into the lines by breeding my homozygous to non-nexus horses as well as the het nexus.
For me, I keep everything that passes culling, regardless of het or homo. If I don't have a superior homozygous stallion to use, I'll use a het nexus and if any of the resulting intact foals miss the nexus completely, they just go into my regular lines where appropriate for more diversity.8834
