ISO straws and eggs to start
-
hi everyone I'm new and looking to start up my herd I have the basic upgrade so let me know what you have for eggs and straws I can pay up to 10k per straw and egg
-
First off, welcome to the game!
Secondly, do you know what you’re looking for? What genes, generations, papers?
If not, (or even if so), I’d actually recommend building your show herd first. That’s going to give you a more sustainable source of income than anything: 1k, 10k, eventually 100k+ per night. Start with a goal of three or four show horses for every intact horse you get, but more is always better.
Straws and eggs are one of the more expensive ways to get foals - you probably want to first focus on getting your own stud and a handful of mares. Once you know what genes/generations/papers/height/weight you want you can make a post asking for anyone who has xyz stud for sale, and I’m sure you’ll get plenty of offers.
If you have any questions about how anything here works, don’t hesitate to ask! This is one of the friendliest communities you’ll ever find.ID 45703 | he/himOpen barn policy - no closed lines! Thank you! I honestly don’t know much about this game but I do raise goats so I thought it might’ve been easier to get some lower quality females and use high quality straws on them to get mediocre kids show them and then breed them to a better male to get better kids

You have the right idea!
So there’s two main types of breeding around here.
The first is usually referred to as “even” breeding - which is taking two foundations, breeding them together until you get foals better than they are (aka they pass the Breeding Advice test) and then taking those second generation foals and breeding them together to get even better third generation foals, rinse and repeat.
The other options is “bootstrapping”, which is usually taking a high papered (usually a star papered) stud and breeding him to a mare of lower quality to pull the foal quality up faster. These foals usually will not pass breeding advice, so you use papering and comparison testing to determine if the foals are good enough that they’re advancing in quality.
Either way works! It sounds like what you had in mind is bootstrapping but feel free to experiment with both.
On that note, though, a lot of people will have secondary goals (which you absolutely do not need but can add some fun into it) and those usually have to do with appearance - so I want to ask, have you seen anything you like around here? Solid colors? Flashy white patterns? Big and heavy? If you do, you can learn more about how to get those, and while you’re working on star and gold papers you can also be working on getting them pretty!ID 45703 | he/himOpen barn policy - no closed lines! If you'd like a nice stud to get you started. Check out my sales barn and tell me which one you like and I'll let him go dirt cheap. Like 1-2k cheap depending on which guy! I'm fairly new as well and would love to help get you started with a nice stud! :)

If you like the look of any of my first season stallions I'll sell one to you for 3k!

I do have all my stallions up for public breeding as well, if you'd prefer to use that. -
I just placed an ad/post in breeding thread, with links to my available colts!

@StarMtnRanch This thread was from Aug 20th and it looks like they haven't logged on since then. :)ID 45703 | he/himOpen barn policy - no closed lines! I'm always selling straws and eggs from anything I have that catches your eye, don't hesitate to PM me and ask!
