When do YOU boost your stallions?
-
My bootstrap herd is finally shaping up (especially with a recent gift from @wyldwood), and I am starting to think about boosting. Do you boost your top stud? When do you choose to boost?
-
I usually only boost a stallion that has everything I wanted but is only as good as his sire, or if he doesn't quite meet my requirements for that generation, then yes I'll boost him to make him perfect.
But as for the high PT mixed pedigree lines, that people sometimes call their bootstrap lines, I'd only boost if I wanted to boost above the cap, simply to get on the leaderboards and produce high PT foals. I mean mixed pedigree high PT stallions are pretty easy to get hold of without boosting, but the only way you'll get that super high stud, like the top 10 on one the main LBs is by boosting. But just remember if you boost well above the cap, no foals will pass BA -
I will over boost something that is at the breeding cap for my bootstraps….unless there is a gene I specifically want.
Originally to get the super high pts I boosted higher pts to bring them up to my standards. Typically the higher pt scores don’t get the high breeding scores. ^_^ all of my lines are sorted into a tier list so I know when something is acceptable to be boosted.
I also never ba or sba my bootstraps and haven’t in years. I comparison test everything.
If you need a colts to test against for breeding cap I’d be happy to sell you one. -
I will only boost a Gen2 stud if he's perfect gene wise but only comes up as good as sire. I've never boosted a bootstrap horse.45120
