Uncommon game goals
-
Hi everybody!
I'm a little bit new here and don't really understand a lot of the mechanics of the game but I'm getting there! I read through the general guides and have an idea of what personal goal(s) I'd like to set for myself and my herd. I was just wondering what everybody else does to keep the game interactive and fun!
What personal goals do you have for your barn/herd/etc? How typical are your goals and how often do you encounter other breeders aiming for the same outcome?
Thanks for chiming in and please feel free to direct me to a better forum if this is the wrong place to ask/chat.

I just breed whatever I think is pretty 8-> But I'm also very strict with the quality, but I don't have any goals per se. And I think there are alot of us :PID 108

I'm breeding 2 lines currently.
First is riding horses and ponies that are red based with a lot of dominant white and appy. Black livers are a priority as i get the chance to create more.
Second is cobs and drafts that are black based with some white and appy, but lots of sooty.
I sell any that pass BA but don't quite match my goals. If they fail BA, they stay as show ponies. -
I breed mostly Livers and Chocolate Palominos and super fantasy. All must pass SBA studs must be superior to their sires and depending on generation and who their parents are they need to paper a certain level I'm less picky with mares but paper level still matters and color I don't really keep show horses because my breeding stock rotates a lot. Oh and always even bred I personally don't do bootstrap. Primarily warmblood some RH and drafts slip inWolfgang Pride ID 554
Always willing to help. Licensed for everything. Specialize in Liver Chestnuts, Chocolate Palominos, Sabino, Tobiano. But I breed everything except Frame

I have 3 herds. First is my evens. They are heavy brown based and I try to get as many closed genes on them as possible. Quality is secondary to flash, so I don't see stars till about 5th generation.
The second is my bootstraps. For them quality is everything and I spend a lot on comp testing.
Third, and most recent, is my minis. I'm trying to get as many outside lines as possible in this group. Next season I will be starting gen 3 when my girls finish aging up.
As a big barn I need to keep about 200 show horses a season to keep my daily steady. Once a horse gets gelded in my barn I don't even look at them again till they are 14 when the bottom half gets culled to make room for more babies.
I love pasture breeding for the bonus, and increase in quality, but hand breeding is my drug. I love mixing and matching one at a time and watching the babies load.45120

I breed for my favourite genes on top of quality. I'm not as strict as some players on paper levels and comparison testing, but I definitely have certain bars I want to hit with each generation for foals.
I typically only breed even generations, because the symmetry makes my brain happy.ID# 25784 -
I have three ongoing projects. My main one, my bootstrap drafts, is a big free-for-all, and I keep dragging my quality down (whoops) by finding new and gorgeous combinations of fantasy genes to throw into it, lol. There's no real goal with it, just mix and match colors and have fun and try to have mostly gold papers. It also produces most of my show ponies with the snipped foals that aren't high enough or flashy enough for my liking.
My other two lines are side projects, one with akhal-teke styled riding horses, and one with snowflake/dp/kp/pearl drafts. Both are more come-and-go casual focus.ID 45703 | he/himOpen barn policy - no closed lines! I'm always selling straws and eggs from anything I have that catches your eye, don't hesitate to PM me and ask! -
A lot of my breeding is color-based, with quality coming second, except with my Silk line. It's just a coincidence that the Silks ended up being grullo a ton. My Silver Sooty line is strictly color-based, but I want color and quality so I mix in some from other lines a lot. My mini herd is also strictly color, size, and bone weight, and I couldn't care less about quality with them. I BA mostly to get rid of unwanted foals. I want them to be about 1/2 and 1/2 black and white with as many white genes as I can get thrown in.
-
My only requirement for my breeding horses is for them to have at least het DP. I have almost all of the fantasy and white spotting genes and I mash them all together to see what comes out. I keep my lines even and I require A/Blue at 3rd gen, star studs at 4g and star/gold at 5g. I'm up to gen 13 and I have fun seeing how long it takes to get a good breeding population at higher gens.
-
I breed boots and evens. I have 2 herds of boots, liver DP with S+ and whatever bling I can throw at em, and an anything goes Fantasy boot line. Quality is important for both lines, but moreso with my livers, and only the best stay. The fantasy line is newer, and focuses more on the color than quality but I've been slowly/steadily raising the quality of this herd thru the seasons while adding new genes at the same time, either thru outside mares or bootstrapping from my own foundie studs. It's just a super fun little project.
My evens are split into fantasy and non as well, with the fantasy herd taking up the majority. Again, it's anything goes with this bunch color/gene wise, but the quality has to be there. Studs at 2g must be A's. Higher gens must test STS and get tested against my benchmark each gen. Star/Gold happens at 5th gen or sooner, with a few blues that test sup being allowed to stay IF they catch genes I want, but only gold allowed in 6th gen or later. I have so many cool combos from this fantasy line! Non fantasy is two small lines, DP snowflake, and liver mushroom splashM. The snowflake line is going to get KP/KP2 added with my next foundie stud, and I may just throw the mushrooms in along with is cause that line is so small lol.
My newest startup is a line of damage making mini collectables that can't show but can definitely wreak havoc all over my farm. I have my stud nearly ready and will be breeding this batch for the first time before this season ends. Mare requirements are failed papers with pt under 1.1, they need to show me they'll do damage, pony sized, and hom sooty. I have a handful of mares with 0.0 pt and that's my studs PT as well. I can't wait to see how bad they do! -
The beauty of this game is that you can set your own goals. You'll always find someone breeding the same type/color of horses as you, but your goals for your own herd can be vastly different! You are only in competition with the next idea your brain can come up with, or that next horse that pops up on the forum or leaderboards and makes you say, "Ohh, I need a bunch of those that look like that!" And There's a thousand ways to get to that goal/type/look.

@Windigo - have to say that your even lines are intimidating, but awesome, and your havoc wreaking minis sound absolutely hilarious!

@Windigo Revenge of the minis =))
-
These minis do not(or, maybe they do...) disappoint lol. I have maybe have a dozen altogether, and about half pop me with damages every night lol.
Pretty sure they broke right out of purgatory and managed to come straight to my farm. Now they're squatting here in one of my barns on the back 40, or rather, what's left of it. Duct tape and baling twine hold it together, I've given up trying to fix it. They terrify my other horses, the little ankle biters! The Stud, Creature, has been holed up in the back of the barn. Pretty sure he's coming up with something big, I keep hearing hammering, drilling, and occasionally something explodes. I'm too scared to go check it out :-)) -
:))
I keep thinking about starting a group of trouble makers, but I can't seem to stop myself from sending them to auction.45120

I thought revenge of the minis was just kind of a Tuesday for them... :))

Hello. I am trying to grow a Mushroom as a draft herd to the best I can get it. And then I have a Fantacy Sprot Pony herd going and want to do the same with it. I have been playing for just over a year. I have done this with the other accounts with different gene's. In Bluegrass I have a Chinchilla Warmblood line and a Draft Heart line. In Mesa I have all Cobs and one line is Lace, and one is Lace Nacre, Water color and Axiom then I have a line that is Apple. And I am liking the game more now than just breeding any thing. I label the horses with the generation and fantacy gene they have. Although Mushroom is not a fantacy gene it is one that you have to be licensed for. Some you can get with gmts. Some need reall money to get and you can only own them to breed if you have the license. If you dont have the license for them they have to be spayed or neutered.
