Yellow is pretty much a baseline for foundation quality horses. A yellow mare would be equal to a C papered stallion. As far as keeping quality similar, breeding even generations will increase your odds of getting an intact foal that compares better than it's parents. By even generations I mean a foundation to a foundation, a second gen to a second gen, a third gen to a third gen, etc. By making sure all of your horses have passed available testing, each generation should have a bump in quality.

That said, as far as choosing a stallion, I, personally, would pick TNP or EP stallions to pair with those mares as they should have a higher breeding ability than a regular foundation.
