Moving sucks

We've lived in the middle of Kansas for the last 3 and a half years, and now we're moving back home (middle/south of Missouri). It's a 6 hour drive in normal circumstance, but traveling that far with two trucks loaded town pulling trailers and 3 dogs... i feel like it's going to take 8 hours at least. I'm stressed out. I'm hoping nothing goes wrong. I just want to be done with it. If y'all could send good thoughts our way, i'd be eternally grateful. We're leaving in an hour or so. :-SS#28036

Hope the drive was long and boring for you! When pulling a trailer, boring is always the best I hope for. ;;)~*~ Justa ~*~

What city in Missouri are you moving to? I grew up in Sedalia, and now live in St. Louis. Went to college outside of Salina, KS.
Sending good vibes your way!

@ConfluenceFarms South of Camdenton. We actually drove through Sedalia today. My parents live in Knob.
So our trip was definitely not boring. You guys, i couldn't make this up if i tried. Instead of 6-8 hours, it took us 2 days!
We left the old house at 8am yesterday, thinking we'd get there between 2 and 4pm. Around noon, we had a trailer tire blowout. The spare is bad. My truck has the same size tires but different bolt pattern, so my spare wouldn't work. Husband's truck has right bolt pattern but tires too big, so his won't work. It's Sunday, the only tire places open are Walmart. The nearest Walmart is 30 minutes away. So i, pulling a uhaul, drive there (Emporia ks) and they don't have any tires that will fit it. No trailer tires, no car tires, no truck tires. I learn my lesson and call Topeka. They don't have any either. I call Ottawa and they have one. Just one. They're an hour from Emporia. I have them save it for me. I go get it mounted and drive an hour and 20 back to my husband. He puts it on and we get back on the road. It's now 6pm and we're at least 4-5 hours away. We're worried about driving in the Ozarks on unfamiliar roads in the dark, both pulling trailers. If you're not familiar with the Ozarks, it's all hills and curves. We decide to go to my parents for the night.
This morning, we leave my parents mid morning. It's only 2-3 hours or so away, depending how fast you drive. We should have plenty of time to unhook his truck so he can run back to get the last of our stuff. But no. We get a little over an hour down the road and another trailer tire blowout. This time, we're 4 miles from a tire shop and he has the right size! I go get it and we get on the road again. We get 12 miles down the road and a third tire blowout. I'm not even kidding. I call the last guy and he says they close for lunch at noon. It's 11:43 and Google Maps says we're 18 minutes away. I'll pause here and say neither of our trucks have AC and my husband and 3 dogs already sat in a hot truck 5-6 hours yesterday. It's already warm and it would suck to wait until 1. I head back to the tire shop, hoping to catch them in time. I'm ten minutes away and they close in 5 minutes. I call him back and tell him I'm not going to make it. I'm about to cry. I think he can tell. He says he'll wait for me. I finally get the tire and get back to my husband. We get it on and get back on the road. We finally get to the new house at 2:30pm today.#28036 -
Aww, man! Sounds like the trip was pretty rough on you all, @Haltanny. Trips like that make a person never want to leave the house ever again, which is why I was hoping you'd be bored. Glad you finally made it to your new home, and I hope all the critters settle in easy for you so you can relax a while. :x~*~ Justa ~*~

What a nightmare! Though I must say that I'm happy that at least there were no injuries to anyone or anything but the tires. And your patience, of course.
I hope it's all uphill from here.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

Oh Hun, not boring road trips are the worst. I'm so glad you made it. Take a minute to cool down before you start unpacking.
How is the new place? Lots of room for family and critters?45120

I love the new house. Lots of room. It has a spiral staircase of all things! My husband has to run back to the old house because we forgot some important items, so I'm nervous while he's gone. I'm slowly unpacking things. I have to go through each box because I stopped labeling after only a third or so of the boxes, so i have no idea what is in where. =))#28036Thanked by 1Justa

That's so many tire blowouts! I'm glad you didn't have any accidents in the process. And that you made it safe in the end. That's such a long trip, i get why you're stressed about your husband repeating it.
