Help with a christmas gift for a horsey friend?
-
I am totally lost at what I should get for my friend. She owns a barn, and two personal horses. One is a buckskin QH, the other is a OTTB. She is in love with both. Her QH she rides WP, mostly, the OTTB is ridden dressage. She runs an equine massage business.
Im just totally coming up blank with what to get her. She is well off financially, so it just seems like she has everything. I recently went to some tack stores and other shops with her, hoping that she would really want something but not get it so I could get it later for her. But she is literally so well off she bought everything she wanted.
I was looking at little personalized items, or spa things like bathbombs and whatnot, but I dont want to get something too small.
She has done a lot for me and allows me to ride her husband's horse whenever I want. She's helped me get my foot into the equine massage therapy world. I feel like no matter what I get it just won't feel right. Any ideas? I was thinking something around $50ish? Help? -
Maybe you could commission a cute little painting or something of her horses? I commissioned a little figurine of my mare made from polymer clay and I adore it!ID# 25784

yeah, $50 can get you a lot. You could look on Etsy for more horsey things, but don't get too into the rut of thinking every gift won't be perfect. She's your friend, and anything you get her will mean more than the price tag. I like the painting commission idea, and you can get her things outside the horse theme, too. You could take her out to brunch, even.

It depends on the person, but I’ve found a lot of people prefer well thought out, or homemade gifts. A coffee cup with pictures of you guys together or of her horses. I don’t know if you’re artsy, painting, knitting, crochet, sewing, but homemade gifts usually mean a lot.
Also bath bombs are really easy to make at home, and being able to personalizing the sent is amazing. It would be an easy add on to another gift. I’ve also made homemade sugar scrub as a gift.
I don’t know if she gets cold easily or often, but a heating blanket is amazing, and they make them for car’s too. That last one was my mom’s favorite gift ever.
Sometimes the little things that make life easier mean the most, even if they don’t cost much. -
I agree with the homemade/local/independent artist gifts thing - they are always unique and interesting, and a lot of times you can find something that immediately makes you think of the person you are shopping for. As an added bonus, if you buy something from a small creator, you also help them out during a time of the year that is more expensive for a lot of folks in the northern hemisphere.

I once went to Dover. They had little horse Chocolate horse heads and there was one chestnut with a star and then one that was a black with a a blaze. I was looking for a gift for my trainer and she has a lesson program. In the program she has a dark bay with a blaze and her personal horse is a Chestnut with a star! I know dark bays aren't black but they are close! So you could find those maybe some where or you could find some like horse treats. I always like to get those. Hopefully that helps!Fth Stables

Not sure if she has it already or not, but I know my horse friends love personalized nose bands for their halters! Leather with the horses’ names on them, added colors or designs as the background

I agree, personalized or handmade gifts always mean a lot more to me than store bought.
Did you know Better makes a paint your own horse model? Do you know someone (or are you) that's good at painting models? They don't cost much, and maybe she would like a model of her horse painted? -
Actually I am thinking soon to start painting a sculpting! I have painted and done a little sculpting when once accidently one of my models broke a re did its tail. :) I am planning on doing one of my favorite horse in the world Gritz. :)Fth Stables

I recently discovered the brand livewire horses. They make little twisted wire horses. You can use them as a Christmas ornament, hang them from the rearview mirror of your car, or pretty much anywhere else. You can get them custom made to look like your horse and I think it would make a lovely personalized gift for your friend. I ordered myself one as a present to myself and I can wait to get it! I'll link to their website below if you want to check them out.
