The inner workings of emergency services on Christmas
  • My husband has a radio for his job that has police, emt, fire, etc. He is required to keep it on. Anyway, we just heard police dispatch say:

"Be advised, Santa will be in the area soon. If you hear "click click click" on the roof or jingle bells, do not respond. Merry Christmas. "

    To which EMTs responded:

"Don't forget to leave milk and cookies for him."

    Fire dispatch added:

"Make sure your fireplace is put out before you go to bed."

I thought it was a bit entertaining, had to share. So Merry Christmas everyone!

  • Not sure what kind of first responder your husband might be but tell him thank you for his service and Merry Christmas and safe wishes his way when he's on duty!
    Dabbler in EVERYTHING.

  • I love EMS Christmas hijinx. :D

We have RCMP (police) officers that have a laugh late night on Christmas Eve by pulling random people over just to wish them Merry Christmas and give them little gifts like candy canes, chocolates, or coffee shop gift cards.

Some people appreciate it, some don't! LOL!

Always looking to buy B/Red foundation brindle drafts in black, blue roan, grullo, classic champagne, etc.

I can be very scatterbrained and forgetful so if I don't get back to you in a decent amount of time just poke me.
  • @CeffylDwr my husband is the guy that makes sure roads are clear for emergency routes, including the local airport runway and hospital helipad. So not a first responder, but fairly important if you have to get somewhere in or after a blizzard.

The radio went off about 5 or 6 times with "sightings" in the nearby towns, first one about 20 minutes after i posted this topic. Pretty cool.

  • @Haltanny, he who plows the roads is the most important emergency responder at all! Without him, none of the others could do their jobs. Thank him for us all!

  • I work in a public safety field, and have a 40 minute commute. When the weather outside is frightful, but I HAVE to make it to work, there is no one I love more than the plow truck drivers. @Haltanny, please give your husband my thanks, and both of you have a VERY Merry Christmas!

  • @Haltanny he is very much appreciated for what he does then and honestly I still count him as a type of first responder cause without him doing his jobs during bad weather the first responders in the sense of cops, fire, paramedics would have so many more calls.
    Dabbler in EVERYTHING.

  • Thanks guys! He said thank you for the love and merry Christmas. People out here tend to complain because the drivers don't get to their roads quick enough, so i know he really appreciates hearing kind words from you all. <3
