Just Sent My Foster Kitties On To Their Furever Homes
-
And now I'm feeling a bit post-kitten sadness even though I know they went to great homes.
Delphine and Felix went together

Helena went to a home by herself but she gets 3 kids that will be all hers
And last but not least this little girl, Cosima, got adopted by my best friend but is boarding with me for a few more months till her mum moves somewhere she can have her so I'm not missing her yet though she is quite distraught her siblings are gone.
So in an effort to cheer me up please tell me cute or funny stories about various furry crib midgets in your life? Pictures of said furry crib midgets is also appreciated.Dabbler in EVERYTHING.Thanked by 1Lallyhop -
Fun story from tonight. So my 9.5 week old Great Pyrenees, Olive, ran out of my room and I just let her go and figured she would find one of the million toys we have in the house. About a minute later i hear her pushing something that does not sound like a toy. I walk out of my room expecting to find her with another shoe... Nope. Water bowl... She dragged the empty water bowl from the dining room area all the way around the couch (about 10-15 feet). Did you notice that 'empty' was italicized? Yeah... My dad had literally filled that bowl, like, 5 minutes before I found Olive with it... I rounded the corner and there is a freaking lake spreading across the floor, under the couch, probably into the floor vent. I was practically crying from laughing :)) At the same time, i was not amused lol So i grabbed a towel and started to clean up the water and the tiny terrorist grabs the towel and starts tugging in the opposite direction. Not helpful. I finally got it all cleaned up an by that time it was around 11:40pm and i have to be up early tomorrow to make food before church, so i scooped up the crazy fluff (who was doing zoomies around the living room) and fenced her into my bedroom so we could go to bed. As i am typing this, she is thankfully passed out on the floor next to me (I am currently sleeping on a mattress on my floor until Fluffaluffagus is big enough to jump up on my bed. Otherwise she cries and no one in the house gets any sleep) and i am just checking in on the pixel ponies before i close my eyes. So yeah, that was my evening :))Bluegrass Server: HayesStable - 221755

Tiny terrorists are the best for amusing anecdotes but they can definitely result in lots of clean up and sleeplessness! :-)) Thank you for sharing a funny story with me!Dabbler in EVERYTHING.Thanked by 1AHayesHorses

I don't have a new image, but my kitten Chancellor should be able to come home to me this coming week. The only issue is his current human mommy can't get him to eat any kind of kitty food (she has his kitty mommy, too). She first tried soaking dry food, he refused to touch it. She then bought canned food, and he's still refusing it. I'm thinking that her best option might be to force a teeny piece in his mouth so he tastes it and realises it's good. I saw him the other day, and the little demon is fluffy! I was not aware of this! I was sitting on her couch holding him, and he started attacking my fingers, biting and swatting at them. But the little weirdo wanted nothing to do with a string I had (part of my apron) as I waved it like a toy. He was only interested in swatting and eating my fingers. :))Love,

@SpryOfJune sometimes you have to get a little taste of it in their mouth before they will start, it could also be that the format its in they don't like (pate vs shreds vs chunks) or it could honestly be the flavor. This quartet is anti chicken and beef in wet food and they generally refuse to eat the dry foods even though that is always kept on offer for them. When they are that tiny sometimes they can't quite focus on the string.... fingers are easier to see and oh so much fun to chase! I'm excited for you little Chance he look so adorable in your last photo of him!Dabbler in EVERYTHING.

That makes sense. I've been meaning to let her know to try putting it in his mouth without his will, and seeing if that works. His momma is so small in size, I originally thought she was a kitten. He, too, has taken after her size. He's around 6-8 weeks old and looks like he's about 2-4 weeks old. He's so teeny. It's been about 4-5 years since I've seen a teeny little kitten, I was in love with the cuteness. I'm actually terrified I'm gonna squish his little self just walking around my room. As much as I hate to admit it, as small as he is, he may end up having to sleep in a small dog/cat kennel so in the mornings when I wake up, I don't accidentally step on him.Love,

@AHayesHorses LOL In my experience, a Pyr's love of the water was always directly opposite of how much I wanted them to get into that water. I had one years ago my niece named Teddybear who loved playing in his water bucket and often did the carry it around and dump it thing, loved the neighbor's stock pond and chasing fish, but hated baths so much it took two people to get him in the tub. :))~*~ Justa ~*~

Ugh! You are giving me kitten fever! So flippin’ cute!
It is always so hard seeing them go but at least you know that they are going to good homes and another batch is sure to come along before you have time to sink to far into “empty nest syndrome”.
Unfortunately I have not been able to figure out how to get pics to work on this site. I may try to post some links to my Flickr account below.
As for funny or cute stories, I have tons but this one was the first to come to mind…
All critters currently in my care are rescues of some form or other. I have a blue pit bull named Orion who came into my life in the most serendipitous of circumstances at approximately 10 weeks old. He is now pushing 11 years. I also have two DSH cats, a blue/grey male named Gwydion, who is dopey and lovey to the point of most people considering him to be “special”, and a black female named Kali, who lives up to her name but deceives you by still speaking in little kitten mews and birdlike trills and being tiny and adorable even though she is close to 9.
Now, Orion is a very good boy, being raised by myself and my “dog person” friends he did not have much choice. LOL
He mostly stays out of trouble and is quick to get upset when the cats (my minions of chaos) inevitably get themselves into trouble. He is a bit of a tattle-tale.
I used to live in a bachelor style walk-out basement suite that I rented from my friends.
I had just gotten home one day from a grocery run and had a pack of chicken thighs. I had needed to ask my friends something and, having heard them on the main level of the house, placed the thighs on the kitchen counter and popped upstairs for a quick chat. I was not up there for more than 5 minutes when I hear Orion starting to cry. I recognize it immediately as his “we are going to get into trouble!” cry and rush downstairs to see what the cats have done this time.
As I enter the suite he is there at the door waiting for me, hunched over, tail between his legs, shaking. (He can be quite dramatic.)
I ask him, “What’s wrong buddy? What did the cats do?”
He doesn’t lift his head but rolls his eyes up to look at the kitchen counter before he drops his gaze back down at the floor and starts to shake a bit harder. (Did I mention he’s a drama queen?)
Sure enough, the pack of chicken thighs is ripped open and there are two missing.
Sighing, I turn back to him, “Its okay bubby. Where are the cats?”
He turns his head just enough to look towards the outside door and then turns back to me.
I give pat him on the head and a kiss on the nose, “You are a good boy, baby.”
Mollified, he thumps his tail twice in reply and then heads to his bed.
My view of the back door is blocked by my couch, I stomp over and sure enough Gwydion is there, on the mat, happily munching his chicken thigh with the skin already gone. He doesn’t even look up at me.
“Gwydion! PSSST! Leave it!”
He flinches a bit at my “psst” but doesn’t move, just looks up at me licking his lips.
“Leave it!”
Gwydion pads over happily, rubs against my leg and then reaches up and pats me on the thigh, which is his “pick me up” request. I pick him up and let him give me a couple of head bonks (head bonks are kinda his thing) before placing him on the couch where he begins to groom. I turn to Orion who is on his bed watching the whole proceedings and still quivering.
“It’s alright baby, come here.”
He creeps over to me. I point to the thigh on the mat.
“Okay, have it.”
He looks at the thigh and looks back to me as if to say, “Are you sure.”
“It’s okay. Have it.”
He wags his tail at me and then carefully tucks in to what is left of the chicken. Two chomps and it is gone, he turns back to me and graces me with that gorgeous open-mouthed pitty smile, tail wagging. My happy boy is back.
I pat him on the head, “You are a good boy bubby.” and crouch down to give him a cuddle and, his favourite, some love spanks.
He wiggles happily for a moment, doing that panting dog laugh before I see a thought pop into his little pitty brain. He stills, his tail tucks, he drops his ears and head and glances quickly up at me.
“What’s wrong buddy?”
He starts to shake a bit and lets out a little whine.
A realization hits me. “Where is Kali?”
Orion drops his head lower and rolls his eyes just enough to look towards the partially closed bathroom door.
“Oh, for goodness sakes!”
Into the bathroom I go and there is Kali, all her five or so pounds of her, crouched over a chicken thigh the size of her head. She is growling before I make it through the door.
“Kali! Leave it!”
She responds by flattening her ears, chomping down harder on the thigh to get a better grip, thrashing her tail, and growling deeper with the occasional punctuation of a hiss/spit. Kali is ready for battle.
Orion lets out a whine behind me. I look back to see him back on his bed. Gwydion pads over and gives Orion a reassuring head bonk. Orion responds with a lick up the side of Gwydion’s head and they both cuddle up to watch the show.
I turn back and take a moment to appreciate how adorable Kali still is, even though she is doing her best impersonation of a demonic soot ball from hell. I suddenly realize that I am an idiot and should have been taking video of this whole encounter and grab my phone.
“Kali, give me the chicken.”
Kali just hisses some kitty expletives at me before falling into a savage growl/spit rhythm of unholy sounds that should not be able to come out of a kitty her size.
The great battle for the chicken thigh ensues.
At least, it was a great battle in Kali’s mind. She isn’t actually an aggressive cat. She is all talk.
What ensued was a tug of war that was drawn out by my need to get her gently disengaged from the thigh because she had had a 5k jaw surgery about a year before and I have been paranoid about her ever since. Kali didn’t care; she stayed clamped on that thigh hard enough that I could almost lift her off the floor if I dared.
So after much theatrics of growling and spitting and tail thrashing I finally got her disengaged from the thigh.
The minute the thigh is no longer in her possession she turns back into her adorable self, mewing and trilling, looking up with gigantic green eyes in the hopes that I will give the thigh back, as if the demon from a few seconds ago never existed.
Orion gets the second thigh, I put the rest of the thighs safely in the fridge, and then we all curl up for a good cuddle session on the couch.
And that is a day in my life. LOL!
Let me hunt down some pics.ID# 47364

@BlackWyld, your Orion sounds like my Toby. He's my angel baby boy, all 80ish pounds of him, and such a sweet, smart dog even though he was attacked as a pup in a shelter and then got "emergency placed" with a rescue specializing in small dogs that had no idea what to do with a sweet, hyper Pit puppy. Toby spent about three months in a 4 x 8 kennel before I saw him on Petfinder, but he was still a good boy for me right from the start. He's always happy to see everyone, lives for cuddles, and he's a total goof. Sometimes I really need a reason to laugh, and he always knows and does something silly. I tell him he's the best dog all the time and I mean it. :x
To give you an idea of Toby's level of "good boy", he gets into less trouble than my service dog, Murphy. Lol She was named for the lady cop in the Dresden Files books because even as a tiny pup she was just as smart and fearless. She's also heard about Murphy's Law, though, and thinks it was written just for her. Murph will help me when I need it, usually without me needing to ask if it's really important, but she also messes with me just because she can. Lol The dog breaks rules just to provoke me sometimes, and when I scold her she loves to 'argue' and grumble-bark at me. :p
My brother thinks Toby's sweet and pretty well-behaved, but he says Murphy's scary. Yesterday she was getting in my way so I told her to get behind me, and the heifer kept running all the way around me to get right back in my way again until I got exasperated and yelled, "D@## it, dog, do as you're told!" She walked meekly behind my chair and stood there like she had good sense while my brother muttered about her being smarter than some people he knows. :))~*~ Justa ~*~
