The begining of my A papered foundation test!
-
I tested my new A papered foundation on a group of 10 exceptional producing mares with a 30+ pasture bonus. I believe three passed basic breeding advice (maybe four), one being an A papered (11 pt) colt, and the rest being blue mares with pt scores over 10.5.
Is it possible to get stars/golds out of red foundations with a full bonus? I obviously didn't have a large amount of mares to test him on, so maybe ill give him a full 50 coverage next month and see what he produces.
This is the sire.
MCFI Canes Venatici
This is his first colt. He is currently sitting at number 11 on the fantasy breeders club, highest pt foal.
4026904 A AGA
Rest of his foals (none have a score below 10.50, which I find interesting)

I don’t think it’s possible for them to produce star/gold out of that stud, but from a higher star bootstrap stud I’m sure it’s possible. That would be an incredibly high jump for just the stud, not even considering the mares.
But those foals are gorgeous, congrats! -
No, it's not possible, but you could get 3rd gen Star/Gold with a little luck. It doesn't happen too often, but it is possible.ID 108

thanks! part of me knew that it would be impossible to get second gen gold/star foals, but i figured that the red mares with a full bonus would produce as is they are low blues? im still kinda new to the whole pasture breeding and whatnot. :p whaat do y'all think his foal would paper if i gave him a 5 percent boost? he tested AGA sire and passed BA- im about to go test him against other A's.
-
Still likely an A paper, testing AGA and an A means he could only be max 2% above his sire. But he would be Superior with a 5% boost.Thanked by 1MariaChapinFarm3

I have an A papered foundation stud with 2 seasons on the ground (100 foals). So far, Everything that passed SBA is A/Blue. I just got a Superior son last night. I haven't compared him to any high A/Low Star boys yet, but i'll let you know how it goes. :) His sons that test as good as him, are similar in quality to 3rd Gen A's.#28036Thanked by 1MariaChapinFarm3

Thank you, haltanny! Your superior boy was out of a red foundation, right? They all had a full bonus?
Edit:
My foal is also AGA a handful of third gen A's, and is (as expected) worse than a fifth gen star/4th gen A. -
Yup, he's out of a Red mare with full pasture bonus. Last year i had 50 mares with full bonus. This year i reorganized, so there was about 15-20 with less than a week, but i still only had 8 or 9 paper low. Everything was Red/B or higher when full bonus was involved.
This is my Superior boy

I'm heading off to compare him to my highest A and lowest Star now, so i'll edit this with results.
Results: AGA my highest 3G A, Superior to a few lower 3G A's. Worse than my lowest Star.#28036
