My tattoo?
-
Can I put my tattoo on a foal or horse that I didn't breed but I intend to keep?
-
You can put a tattoo on a foal, but it won't show up until you refresh the foal's page when they turn 2 years. At least that has been my experience with tattooing on foals.
-
Right but is it ok to put my tattoo on the ones that I have bought? My tattoo is only going on the ones I intend to keep.
-
My opinion is, I think once you buy the horse, you should be able to put your own tattoo on the horse you purchased. The previous owner has relinquished the horse to you. I just wouldn't name your tattoo, "Bred By You." Name it something like "Owned By You." I have had buyers of my horse's put their tattoo's on them. I don't mind. Someone else may have another opinion though.
-
Ok I just don't want to make anyone upset.
-
You may want to PM the previous owner, just to make sure they are OK with it. But, they did sell it, and having the new owner tattoo it shouldn't matter.
-
Ok I will do that. Thank you.
-
Your welcome. :)

No one has the right to be upset because you put a tattoo on a horse YOU own. Just like no one has a right to be upset because you take a tattoo off a horse YOU own. I put tat's on and off horses all the time. :)
You do not need to PM anyone. If they cared what tat was on a horse they should not have sold it.Need to contact me? Read this first. Only send me a PM for PayPal issues or if I ask you to. Otherwise, make a forum post. You will get a better faster answer by making a post.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

Speaking personally, I never check to see if a new owner has put tattoos on a horse I have sold or even if they have renamed it; that's not something I need to know.
I don't often remove tattoos that come on a horse I have bought, but I will add my own tattoos for generation or special genes that help me search horses when I'm breeding.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

I agree with Sandy. The ONLY reason I would want a tattoo off a horse is to take it out of a search, and even then I can put my ID number in the owner section.....I just forget to do that every single time! DERP!
I, personally, don't like to have TOO many tattoos cluttering up the horses body, in the picture, so I will sometimes remove one or two tattoos on the horse.
I would like to think that my breeding precautions tattoo might help others, so keeping that one would benefit everybody!

I personally never remove a tattoo that indicates a horse was bred by another player and I will not put my Ausmerican Bred tattoo (the daffodils) on a horse I haven't bred. But if I sell you a horse, unless we have specifically agreed to some sort of restrictions on that horse or its progeny, it's fair game for you to do as you please with it. Change its name, remove and add tattoos, spay, geld, sell, breed, sell the offspring....its your horse. I have too many horses of my own to worry about to be following around every one I've sold to see what you're doing with it!
The only tattoo I try to remember to remove when I sell a horse is the Available to Adopt tattoo. If I've adopted a horse out, I don't want it to still show up as adoptable in the search!
