Some of you may have noticed I haven't been on very much this month. It started off as doing less breeding to pay for my Macciato GMT project but I ended up putting up all my mares for public breeding and just hoarding IVs. Here are the pros and cons I have discovered from skipping a season.

Pros
- It gave me a chance to get ahead with my money. At the end of each season I have been rushing to buy a barn to put all my new foals in but now I have a good amount of IVs tucked away for future use.
- I was able to share my mares. I have never put my mares up for breeding before, except for a couple here and there, and I loved sharing them with others this season. Plus it brings in a bunch of cash.
- I got to take a step back from the game and focus on finishing High School without feeling guilty that I was abandoning my pixel ponies. I had a plan and I stuck with it.

Cons
- I am afraid my show bonus is going to take a hit because I do not have any coming two year olds to pick up the slack once my oldies pass away. If I were to do this again I would proably breed some mares specifically to make show ponies.
- I missed you all! I love this game and can't wait to start playing more and taking a more active role in the community again.

Overall I thought this was a good experience and I learned many things. I would certainly reccomend for other players to do this every so often. I will proably try and skip a season once a real life year. I hope others find my experience helpful with making their plans for the upcoming breeding season. Plus I am just happy to be back!

I was thinking of doing just that next season on my bigger account. Maybe breeding a few select mares for show ponies, but mostly saving up money for barns and maybe picking up some show ponies at auction. Come July, most of my show herd on that account will be aging up to 18. Most of the 35 odd horses have over 1000 points. I'm wanting to take this time and think ahead a bit so maybe it won't hurt so bad if a whole chunk of em don't make it past rollover.

I have been out for a few months. I haven’t done any breeding. I am in the same boat as you. Hoping to start breeding again this season.

Oh, June is SO not the time to take a break! With all the anniversary sales and summer fun stuff....noooo. Wait til July (but budget for at least ONE RS from Ammit for the 4th!). And especially with the new stuff coming from the development team!

I've been on kind of an 'involuntary' break the past few weeks. It does do wonders for the hb stash!

Having played HJ1 so long I tend to forget HJ2 breeding is every month so I have had quite a few skipped breeding seasons. I don’t really notice too much of a hit during roll over though.

I was thinking of taking a break this breeding season and placing up all my mares and studs as well.
That way I can grab all the Goodies Ammit has this month :D

I was considering taking a break for the same reason, but my lines are only just getting started. Would that be a good idea or should I wait until my 2Gs are more established?

May I ask how you price your mares? I'm considering doing very minimal breeding this season and want to put mares up for public breeding. I just don't know what would be a good pricing.

Glad I could be of help for some people.

@HTRanch it depends on what your goals are. If you want your lines to get as big as possible quickly I would say don't take a break now. But if your goal is to hoard money to help in the long run I would say taking a break is a good idea.

@JheydaStables this is what I used to price my mares and almost all of them were bred to so I think they were fair prices.
1000 1G yellow
1200 1G red
1500 2G red
2000 2G blue
2500 3G red
3000 3G blue
3500 4G
4000 5G
6000 6G
ADD 500 FOR SPECIAL GENES

I am thinking of doing this also. I want to fill my show barn, but I may just scour the ads and auctions to fulfill that goal.
