DP in Pearl?

    I am not a pearl breeder, so to say, but it has cropped up in my lines. Am very curios about this girl's color, because she looks different than the others. There is a 1/8 chance that she has dp(great grand dad what het, and horses in between are colors that wouldn't show it) on the other hand, would be surprised if she is a color that would show it either. Just really intrigued about if anyone knows what is making her that dark almost metallic color.

    The difference is the cream. Cream and pearl look very different than hom pearl on black based horses.

    I have a few DP pearls, I'll dig up links in a bit. But yeah, the difference is the cream. The pearl-creams look more like double creams (Smokey cream, perlino) than pearls.

    This one is liver chestnut pearl. She's hom DP, but only has one sooty gene.

Gene Guide Update!

The sunshine gene, previously known only from one line of Standardbreds has been discovered in a TWH. The gene guide has been updated with this new information. Sunshine may be much wider spread than originally thought.
