Brindle not passing?
  • I’ve mass-bred my brindle studs for the last few months to try and pass it. It says 50% pass rate, yet I’ve never had a single pass. Am I doing something wrong or is there another factor at play beyond my cruddy, non-existent luck?
  • That is the rate where they'll pass genes from each strand of DNA. The chance of inheriting chimerism (2 sets of DNA) is much lower. Your best chances are to breed 2 chimeras together via embryo in the lab, but even so it is rare.
  • Brindle is not really a gene, it is the presence of 2 sets of DNA in the same horse. It is not really inheritable, but there is a sliightly bigger chance of getting a brindle from brindle parents, and there is a sliiiightly bigger chance of getting a brindle when using the breeding lab.

The only inheritable "brindle" in the game is Dun Factor Promoter. It is not a true brindle, but can give a similar look.

  • If you want to breed brindle markings more reliably, there’s a gene called DFP1 you can buy.
  • A note on rarity - natural born chimeras are incredibly rare. I breed about 3000-ish foals per season, and I will get 2 at most. Some seasons I don't get any. But breeding two chimeric parents together does increase the chances, most of my chimeric foals come from two chimeric parents.
Beyond that, seconding Maribo and RoseFlute's suggestion that the DFP1 gene creates brindle-like markings.
