I am confused about this black

Seeing this girl I thought she was nd1 or dun... but no. Do you know why she isn't just black?

The single pearl causes some lightening, i believe.

I am wondering if it is a subtle expression of the het pearl?
I looked up a few black het pearls and some of them do show a slight lightening of the body while the legs remain dark.ID# 47364

Het pearl lightens to varying degrees. I breed for it quite a bit, and from a quick look through of my herd, I'm thinking it's the DP without sooty that causes it to express so much, but that is just my theory. I certainly haven't studied it.45120
