Hom silver beauty
-
Anybody ever see this? Going through all of my mares today and this one strikes me as pretty odd.

F bl Hom silver
This absolute dream of a mare is stunning but also confusing.
Oof my bad does it only affect “black”. I don’t remember how silver works, haha. Also just ignore this post. ^_^ -
It looks like she has some appaloosa varnish happening, maybe that's what you were seeing.
-
Yes, Silver only affects E black hairs. Since she's homozygous for Ssty and DP, she's what is sometimes known as a "black" liver chestnut, but since it's only the overload of pheomelanin that is making her look black, the Silver gene has no effect at all.
I agree that there might be some appaloosa varnishing going on.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

Yea she is varnishing. I completely forgot that silver only affects black hair. I made the post and then immediately remembered, as such things tend to happen for me. ^_^
