  • Do you want a seapony and haven't got one yet?
I am running a short giveaway of 3 sea pnies one of each weight type:-

    SeaPonyDraft Abyss Spare

    image
    Sea Pony Intertidal spare

    image
    BerryIce SeaP Spare ND1

I realize Skylight has already won Ammit's competition - congrats but this is just to give away my spare creates as I now have completed my set (which I may actually keep intact, esp the WetNWild I got). So do with them what you will if you get one - sell or turn in for the GMT.

All I want to know is "Your first horse you fell in love with" and a little about him/her. Write as much or as little as you like.
I will pick the winner at random (I thought about random number generators but I suspect a hat may be involved!) and then 2 more. 1st can have their pick and so on.
Everyone who participates may have a straw from one of my foundations at 1hb if they wish. Just tell me your ID and which guy you want a straw from. If you are newbie and don't want a straw I can gift you a showpony or 5k to make your own (or 2).
Please put your ID when posting underneath - thanks.

    I'll start (if that's ok):-

The first horse I fell in love with was and is my own first horse. I admit I really liked other people's and some trail horses I've ridden but nothing has come close to the bond I share with my cobxthoroughbred Troy who is a 15'2" black tobiano and was suppose to be a calm first horse (but so wasn't).
He is now rising 20 and I have had him 11 yrs. Before me, he was passed from owner to owner having had 7 owners in the 4 years before I got him. He was very slow to trust and would not be caught in the field and was wary of everything new. Through a lot of patience on my part, we slowly began to trust each other and I learnt so much from him. And he learnt Mum is always going to catch me even if it takes 3 hours (and it did on occasions - good job I've got a sense of humor!). Now if he doesn't fancy coming in (which only really happens in Spring now) he just turns away once as if to let me know he hasn't finished eating grass yet but then puts his head in the head-collar for me.
He is in his forever home with me and not a day goes by when he doesn't make me beam with happiness (or laugh out loud at his quirks - after all no one is ever perfect!).

  • The first horse I fell in love with was the one that introduced me to riding when I was fifteen. His name was CJ and he belonged to my neighbor, who had bought him as a retiring lesson horse so that she could ride him. He was a little bay quarter horse, blind in one eye, and 32 years old. Super sweet old guy. I spent a lot of time walking and trotting him around or just sitting on him and listening to my neighbor tell stories about him. He passed away about a year and a half ago while I was out of town, so unfortunately I didn’t get to be with him to the end.

More recently, I fell in love with one of the horses we use in our college equine program. His name is Ray, and I hated him at first, but one of my classes had me riding him almost every day and reteaching him some things. He used to be a reining prospect, but whoever had him before decided that he was too slow. He had a slow jog and slow lope to die for whenever I worked him on the ground, but as soon as I asked him for it in the saddle it was like his previous training kicked in so there was none of that. XD

So I kind of fell in love with him just because I spent so much time on him. I wouldn’t trade it though- he taught me a lot.

The first horse I fell in love with was an old Australian Stock named Damian. We met on a 13-14 year olds student trip along the Eastern Coast when my group did a Farm stay around Tamworth. I had no idea what I was doing except that some horses were trained left or right with leg pressure. He was a gentle shaggy red beast who knew his business. When the trail ride line got held up by a black warmblood I got impatient and wondered if he would listen if I asked him to go around. He knew exactly what I wanted and we had no issues getting with front part of the line. We even trotted a little. Thought I was sitting on a wooden roller coaster but we had fun. I found him again later and got a picture. :)

  • I have been riding since I was 7 years old; but the first horse I really bonded with was a lesson horse. After I turned 16 I got a job at the stable where my sister and I were taking riding lessons. One of the lesson horses was a 12yo black Quarter Horse gelding named Black. No one really liked riding him because he could be spooky. For some reason though I got along well with him. My instructor/boss decided that I needed more saddle time and Black needed more exercise, and so asked me to ride him every day that I worked. I learned so much from that gelding. By the end of our time together, I was the only one he would come to out of the pasture. Black wasn't actually my horses, but with the bond we shared it felt like he was. I even got my Senior pictures taken with him.

  • This is so generous of you! Thank you!
I would love a straw from your satin boy RS The Dream - I've been wanting to get satin in my herd!

The first horse I fell in love with was a black miniature gelding named Snickers. When I was six years old my parents granted my pleas for a horse and bought Snickers. I was delighted to find out that he was also six years old lol. He was 34 inches tall, and since I am a tiny person (I didn't break the 100 pound line until my junior year of high school and am now barely five feet tall as an adult) he was just the right size for me. I learned to ride on him (which kind of meant training him- it's not like an adult could really train him under saddle) and he was super patient and taught me so much. As I got older and bigger I started driving him, which was fun, and when I would do something dumb as a teen or adult he would give me this look like "I definitely taught you better than this!" He was very smart, able to open gates and stuff. We were together for nearly twenty years, and I fully intended to keep him all his life, but then my parents moved off the farm when I was in college. I couldn't spend any time with my horses anyway, and I couldn't afford to board them, so we found them a new home. It was a little heart breaking, and I still worry about them, but it helps that the last time I saw Snickers he was happily munching on hay while a six year old girl played with his feet.

I have never had a horse, but i love them because i am fascinated by animal domestication, and how social mammals interact. Horses really are predisposed to be good friends to humans, much like dogs, and, surprisingly, rats.

Anyway, i did ride a bit in high school. My favorite horse was a big buckskin named Igor. He was a sturdy fellow. His mane was given a roach cut, which made him look like one of those Chinese horse statues.
Igor was super patient and sweet with his students. While other horses pulled all the standard tricks, Igor was always cooperative. If you showed him a bridle, he would lower his big his head for you to put it on. He would even grab the bit with his tongue and pull it into his mouth. He would never step on your foot, he would stand patiently while you mounted, and he would always do what you asked. He seemed to enjoy being ridden, even by students.
I last rode him almost 35 years ago, but i still think of him often. I think ill name my next gmt stallion after him!

I know it's short lol sorry XD

Well, My first horse that i fell in love with was a big bay thoroughbred/quarter horse cross mare named Clementine, i've only rode (she was the first horse that i've learned to ride on too) her once but never rode her again after i found out that she was older than we thought, plus she had a stifle.

I really cherished her, she was my therapy when i was down. i lost her almost 2 yrs ago and i will never forget her!
& hopefully we'll have a new member that will be joining us soon :x
