What would happen if i gave him a boost?
-
Give finally decided to give a boost to a boy that I picked up not too long ago. He has everything that I want in my mushroom line. Only problem is- he is B papered at 3rd gen (Passed SBA, if that makes a difference).
So I need help. What boost should I save for? What would bump him up to an A? (One percent, five percent) I don't want to spend a couple million hbs if they won't help much.

Ask how father compared to grandfather. That will really help figure it out.All into high quality black based primitive duns and bootstraps.

5% will boost him to an A if he passed strict breeding advice. I wouldn't waste your money on the 1% boosts, as very rarely will they change the grade.
I will only boost horses that passed SBA, if they don't pass the BA then they won't grade up.
This has been my experience anyway :) Hope that helps

Just compare him to any ExPerf foundation. Those are 105%, which means if he's superior, you're guaranteed to get A papered (110%) and if he's as good as, you've can cross your fingers that means 105% or more, which would get you the A papering. If he's worse, you won't get the A (and he's probably not a good candidate to continue the line since that would be worse than grandsire). If you have any second gen A out of experfs, that's also a good stud to compare to for the purpose of eyeballing where he is. I have some Bs that have comped AGA a low A boy I have, so I know they're almost there.ID 45703 | he/himOpen barn policy - no closed lines!
