What makes him wild bay?
-
-
Are you sure you've linked the right foal? This one isn't Wild Bay. He would need to have A+ to be that.
I'm no expert at detecting DP in bays, but there's only a slight chance his granddam on the sire's side might have passed her copy on. I can't tell if he's a bit darker than a non-sooty bay should be, though.De gustibus non disputandum. "There's no arguing about tastes."

He's not a wild bay as that would restrict the black points and cause his genes to list as A+, he's just a traditional bay. I would say that he's probably het DP from his sire's side.ID: 40723

He is not, currently, wild bay, but rather regular bay. For him to be wild bay, you'd need the agouti genes to have at least one A+. There are 4 agouti genes: a = non-bay, A = regular bay, A+ = wild bay, and At = brown. Wild bay, or A+ is always dominant over the other 3. Here's the more technical game page explaining it -

As for DP, he might? I'm not great at calling DP in bays, but there is a thread with lots of examples and discussion here:

It also doesn’t look like there’s any wild bay in his lines. Neither of his grand sires or grand dams carry the A+ gene, so he can’t be wild bay.
However, his sire does carry DP through his grand dam and he’s quite red for a bay with no sooty. I’d bet he inherited the DP from his sire. -
I thoight he was because of how bright he is. Most of my bays aren't bright. So I didn't know.
-
He's definitely non sooty het DP bay. I have 70+ of them. :) If you're interested in breeding more this color, i can probably spare a few girls.#28036

Yep, "wild bay" refers to the wild type bay gene that has very minimal black points, shown in the gene code as A+.
What someone might call your colt is "blood bay" if they were colloquially referring to his color being so red, which in this game is caused by a copy of DP on a non-sooty carrying regular bay (A).
The difference between red vs dark DP in regular bays vs wild bays is whether they have sooty or not - both types of bay, without sooty, go more red in the presence of DP. However, with sooty in the genes, wild bay still goes red, while regular bay goes really dark and rich.ID 45703 | he/himOpen barn policy - no closed lines! Awe ok. I love blood bays. I haven't found a knack of breeding them though.
-
Best way to do it would be to find a GMT’able Cherry Drop Stud, make him homozygous E and remove the wild bay and make it regular bay (homozygous A). The stud is already homozygous DP. Just breed him to regular bay mares, and all the foals will be guaranteed heterozygous DP. Just try to avoid any sooty, and cull the foals that don’t appear to catch DP in the third generation.

What Fallen was talking about, GMTing a Cherry homozygous E and A, turns out like this guy:

1 Drops Of Jupiter GMT
This guy is similar, but only het E and A.

Cherry with the A+ (wild bay) intact looks more like this:

@ChevalStables, your guy reminds me of this colt I got this season. I hoped for a liver filly, but I liked him so much I've kept him anyway. Gotta love that dark dappled bay!

@JustaSaddletramp I adore a dappled bay. That guy is gorgeous! (I may be able to get a liver filly for you. Shoot me a message ;) )

@ChevalStables, I agree, I can't wait to see him aged up! And I'll message you. :3~*~ Justa ~*~
