I have this boy,

1G GMT Sir Morgenstern

Morgenstern will be available for breeding next season, and I am considering some minor GMT tweaks. I have other projects that are more important.... but... I still enjoy tossing ideas around. What would you add to him if he was yours?

-Trying to stay with open genes only. Especially since he's only a PF, I need to save, and I want to share him with everyone. (But please help me if axiom green or a new gene comes out this month or next month)
- Assuming you would be interested in straws how important would it be to you that I take one or both copies of frame off? I 'm debating about it myself, but I do not plan on breeding his offspring together... Most of them will cross with my 2G liver snowflake stud (I have a surprise hidden single copy of snowflake on Morgenstern just to make things exciting...) Others will cross with White Walker children to add their DP... And I require 2G A's... so I doubt I would get all that many colts out of him anyway. But if it made a big impact in his shareability?
-Would a copy of regular Dun look weird/cool on him? I did look up Nd1/D + liver, but only saw a handlful.
-(I do have some other ideas with.... "thinking aloud" thoughts on his notes too)
-Other ideas you have? Hypothetical of course...

That would be cool! I just recently (re)discovered sabino. I recently got some to mix around with my herds. But problem is for that much I could boost him to an expro.... I also have two other I would wish too boost first.

I've been getting away from Appaloosas as they fade white and I don't see the point of having a pretty horse that goes white. Yes my SpM has Lp which I kinda regret now.

Yes. Sometimes I get frustrated by varnish too. I wish I knew an affective way to breed it out... I know Ammit said we could, but look what Boletus turned into :(

I have several mares in their teens that haven't faded much at all. They have, i assume, VV instead of Vrn or Vsf. If anyone is serious about breeding away from heavy varnish, i can pull eggs.

This girl, for example, is 18 years old.

As for the original, i'd take off one frame. That gives the option to GMT off frame if a foal gets it and the owner really doesn't want it. Personally, i have enough variety in my lines i could find a mate without frame, so it wouldn't deter me. I love surprises, so my recent projects have genes that will pop up in later generations. You could do het KP, or hom with only one kit. Or GP, since it wont show on chestnut. That would go with your suprise Snowflake. :)

I LOVE the hidden KP idea! Can’t believe I didn’t think of that. Hope it comes up tonight. And although I can dream about kitm I could probably afford something like tobiano. Roan maybe... but in his case I don’t really want to make him look lighter. I like liver red road. And I like liver red dun. But not liver red roan dun.

I think I have to agree with on taking off a frame. What if he does get a colt I like and then I’m stuck?

The regular dun will cancel out the ND1, although a copy of each will ensure all foals get either dun or nd1. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of normal dun, but love nd1. Removing at least one frame is huge on sharability with straws, since a lot of people don’t like frame on their colts. I also love Roan, so that’s an option. You could always make him a chocolate Palomino, then you get the surprise of his foals either being liver or chocolate.

I love the cream idea! I didn’t used to like it at all, but now I do. That would also help with crossing with White Walker offspring too.

I really like his Non-Dun and didn’t realize that Dun canceled it out, so I don’t think I will add it. At some point I’d like to add more dun back in, but not yet. I like leaving things het. so there’s variety.

Roan and tobiano would be good too because even if I didn’t add KP directly to him I did clone and boost my favorite KP boy and he will be looking for double kit ladies to cross with. He is double sooty on a black base so would cross well with FF offspring as well. Hopefully get livers and black horses!

Honestly, sooty plus is my favorite. It goes well on dp horses. I also like sabino and flaxen ideas.
Frame isnt a big deal to me. I love frame
