Boost tokens on lined horses?
-
Is there anything I need to know about this? Does it work the same as on foundations, or can it only go to certain parameters based on the parents? My goal is o put a 5% boost on a foal that is better than sire already for the most improvement I can get. Would I be waisting the token, or does this sound good? All into high quality black based primitive duns and bootstraps.

As far as I know you can put up to 5% total on any intact, unbred horse. No stipulations on what breeding ability or how much better/worse than their dam or sire.
I don’t think it would be a waste, especially if the boy you are adding it to will be one of your main studs for awhile. If he’s one you plan on replacing rather quickly, I would wait.Thanked by 1Wildland Acres -
I got a son who is slightly better than my current dark star bred bootstrap stud. Waiting on breeding this month so I can look for any true superior to sire boys in that bunch to get the token, but planning on putting on whichever boy is best now that I have one who is better and then have a new boy to work on developing my line with as I cull all but the best mares and then let things grow again.

Yep, I did that when I got my first superior to my best Bootstrap boy. He got a 5% boost and it’s taken 3 rounds of breeding him (6 seasons) but now I’m getting AGA him colts. Hopefully in January I’ll get some superiors and be able to consider giving one another boost.Thanked by 1Wildland Acres
