nexus gene
-
Can someone tell me more about nexus?
-
Nexus is a fantasy gene. Nexus, Axiom and Wrong Warp all live at the same locus.
Nexus is an open gene, while Axiom and Wrong Warp are both closed (meaning anyone can breed Nexus, but you can only breed the other two if you bought a breeding license for real money during a sales event).
Nexus shows a pattern of white stars on the regular base coat when heterozygous, like this:

When homozygous, it has a variety of expressions. Darker “real” base colors produce lighter Nexus coat colors, while super light (like Hom Cream) real life base colors will give you a black Nexus base. Also markings will show through on Hom Nexus coats, with Appaloosa spots and Tobiano both being quite impressive.

Wow I had no idea about Hom Nexus expressing differently according to base colour. Thanks for those examples, I love the palomino pearl especially! Now I really want to get myself a few nexus ponies too.
