Ice 9 on a solid black horse?
  • Can someone show me what it would look like?
  • I bred this one this season, not all black but striking for sure:

And here is one I found of Kintara's:

  • Not sure how I like it. I think I nees to decide my breeding colors. I may sell my exceptional perfect stud. I messed up because I thought my cherry drop girl was red papered but she is only perfect foundation.
  • Here's a list of ice 9 black horses, but I think it looks fab on black and silver black. It looks like embroidery/velvet to me.

  • I love ice 9 on the really dark colors! I'm thinking about getting it next time it goes on sale (can't afford it this time, lol) and starting a line of black livers with it. It reminds me of some sort of freaky fracturing, and I think I'd name them after mythological gods/beings of death or chaos. :D

I love that nexus with it, @Bourbon - amazing! I might have to consider including that myself.

  • I am looking at a expro stud. I once got two ice 1 mares, and they aged out without giving me much of anything that great with the ice gene, so I would definitely suggest stud. If it happens to be a mare now I'd turn it into a stud.

  • One may get splash M and the other ice 9 - not sure which - I also have a yule log stallion and another blackest night

  • A stallion is the way to go - 50x17 breedings as opposed to 16 at best :)

  • I was very lucky with that one :X Not sure whether to give him ice 9 or splash M - any thoughts?

  • Splash M makes base coats lighter
ice 9 makes base coats darker.
I would personally give the black the splash to get a dark swirly look, and the dun the ice 9 to make him even darker, but I am biased as if I do my Ice 9 boy he will be a dark bay dun as well.

  • If you flushed the mare, you could get 200+ foals over her lifetime. Sure, it'd be expensive, but it's definitely possible if you have the cash. I put macchiato on a mare because I don't need any more stallions. I plan to flush her a few times to jump start the bloodline.

  • They are going to look great :) Thanks
I am going for a C rather than B foundation because I am trying to remove A (regular bay gene) from my stallions and you can control the color more with regular foundation mares rather than exceptionals which are much more general in their colors.

  • @Haltanny - yes expensive and perfectly ok
but 50x17=850 and not so pricey :D
