    just wondering if she was hom DP or not? she is hom sty which makes me beleive she is het. however both the foals she has had have been black liver, was that just luck or is she hom DP?

    This is a hom sooty mare that I have, and yours is darker so I would say that not only is she het sooty and het dp, but you've been very lucky to get black liver foals out of her! That's a 1/4 chance per foal! She's a lovely producer

    Your mare is only het sooty. She definitely has a copy of DP, because both those foals are black liver. But only one copy, since she is still labeled a chestnut and not a liver chestnut.

    To get a black liver, a foal MUST have 4 darkening genes. Hom dp and hom sooty. A "normal" liver just needs 3, two of one and one of the other. So very lucky that your mare passed both of her darkening genes along.

    If she was hom DP then she would be liver as well since then she would have 3 darkening factors - she only has one sty.

    yes just realised now she was het sty lol must have been looking at another horse before looking at her and got jumbled :))

Golden Tokens have been renamed Diamond Tokens to prevent mixing them up with GMTs.

Double boosted over cap horses are now designated as ****Star or ****Gold, again to prevent further member confusion issues I have been seeing.
