hidden, link me next season when she grows up, I'd like to see how those tiny white dots look on her. If you remember.

Also, it's possible she's got DP... a little hard to tell on dun sometimes. If you can find a DP stud to breed her to you might be able to tell.

Yes, but it's not something you can test for. It darkens anything with red, from chestnut (called liver) to bays and browns to cream, champagne and dun, though the last two are the hardest to read.

This is a mare with 2 copies of Sooty (Ssty), without DP:


Here's a liver chestnut with 2 Ssty and 1 DP (flaxen):

DP (and sooty) increase your likelihood of dapples (Callidora's mom is dappled).

And here's Ssty + DP, both homozygous, called a "black" chestnut (also flaxen):

The second horse there has 1 more copy of Ssty too, so I might be wrong on that, but that gives you an idea of what it does.

The StySty wild bays does not need to have DP to be chocolatey. I tried GMTing the E off one, and she turned normal chestnut.
