    So this filly tested for the snowflake club. I knew her dam was a carrier but her sire was a complete secret! Any guesses where it came from on his side?

    Unfortunately it could be anyone. It wasn't gmted on, the only great grandparents that had gmt work were the kp ones. None of them were appies, nor have a note to say that they're het snowflake or have produced snowflake.

    I didnt think so. I was just hoping i missed something. Ive since sold the sire but have the dam and grand dam so I'll play with them next season

    Meteoric is a known Snowflake carrier. Snowflake can be carried by any horse, but the horse must be homozygous for it with a copy of Llp to express it.
    Take this guy for example. He is from homo Snowflakes parents so he is homo, but does not have Llp to express the snowflake pattern.

    You can test the mares on the sires side with a Hom Snowflake stud to see if they are the carrier? :)

    Yes i knew dam had it for metoric but was hoping I had am idea who the sire got it from. I'm hoping from my foundation liver mare because ive sold the others.. but ill be pulling them in next season for eggs i think and keeping my fingers crossed

Gene Guide Update!

The sunshine gene, previously known only from one line of Standardbreds has been discovered in a TWH. The gene guide has been updated with this new information. Sunshine may be much wider spread than originally thought.
