Pearl carriers?
-
So I have this foal:

1903023 B
Hos mother is a cremello foundation and his father is a bay appy. He's pearl. Does that mean that both his parents are pearl carriers or is pearl a luck of the draw type gene? He is my first home bred boy that is pearl and not only that he's my first ever home bred boy to pass BA and SAB so that makes me happy! -

This is his dad’s genetic info. The underlined section is his dad’s pearl gene. Pearl and cream are on the same gene, so he got pearl from his dad and cream from his mom which makes him a “pseudo pearl”. To be a true pearl, he’d have to be homozygous for pearl. If they are het for pearl and don’t have cream, the gene is silent.Thanked by 1Amgr1992 -
Awesome thank you Cheers! Well maybe someday all get a true pearl!
