Breeding horses to ponies

I'm learning new things everyday to help me breed better. This question just happen to pop into my head and I couldn't find a thread to answer it for me. Does it matter? Will it lead to a high altering ratio?

Golden Tokens have been renamed Diamond Tokens to prevent mixing them up with GMTs. Double boosted over cap horses are now designated as ****Star or ****Gold, again to prevent further member confusion issues I have been seeing.
