Hey I need some silly clarification on what counts for counting a full generation. I'ma use this foal for example. Is he 4th generation even though the mares missing a set of parents in the 1st generation? Or is he 3rd?

I'm guessing it's because his dad is 4th generation.

When you open his full pedigree there are 5 columns total.
I class foundations as generation 1 , each column represents 1 Gen to me :D
Some do class First Gen as the off spring of 2 foundations though.

I’d call him a 5. And I don’t pay any attention to evenness as long as they’re steadily getting better (never going backwards paper wise) after gen 5 or so.

In the real world (and in my stable), he would be considered 3rd generation. I breed by quality/paper level more than by generations though.
