Altering my herd...
-
I am altering my 3G boys except for my nexus line. I am wondering though is it good to alter my B papered boys and keep my red 3G mares to breed to my A papered boys? I have a lot of B papered boys but I am using my 3G A papered boys more.
-
Are you just altering the B boys? Because the A boys are good. All into high quality black based primitive duns and bootstraps.

I personally chose to get rid of most of my red three G mares or breed them to 2g studs that better fit their quality, but I am always looking for excuses to cull, and the lower paper ones make thing easier. The few 3g red girls I bred still as 3g sometimes threw best of pasture, but on the other had they often didn't as well. All into high quality black based primitive duns and bootstraps.
-
Yeah right now I am just working on the boys.
-
Personally, I would alter the B boys, unless something amazing. I would keep the mares though. Even just BA will weed out the not as good 4G foals. Some red mares could be at the top of the red spectrum. If not, their foals will still make good show horses or auction fodder.Breeder of any and all crazy colored drafts and RH horses.
