Remember, you can get a guaranteed 2500 hbs from the hj auction bidder if you enter a horse in the public auction. When you put a horse up for public sale for less than 2500 hbs, someone else will usually buy it and then put the horse into the auction so they can get the 2500 hbs and earn a little bit of money.
And FYI, when you put a horse up for public sale, you can not have any sort of rules about what to do with it or restrict who can buy it. This means that you aren't allowed to tell other players they can't change your horse's name if they buy it. If you want to have restrictions on a horse's sale, you can use buddy sales. You need to have a premium upgrade to create your own buddy chat to sell horses in, and only a basic upgrade to put your horse up for buddy sale in someone else's buddy chat.
