Who to keep?
  • I've just finished my pasture breeding for this season and ended up with an astronomical amount of colts! Got some red papered fillies and one blue papered filly. No A papered colts this time around unfortunately, but pretty much all of them were B papered. All inconsistant ones were snipped and I comparison tested the two B colts I liked the best and they tested asa their sire. So my main question is, if I've got two A papered gen 2 colts as is, is it worth keeping any B papered colts intact? Especially if they are not superior to their sire. All the foals are in the primary barn if anyone wants to look =D
  • Any colts that are not superior to their sire, I definitely geld. If a B papered colt that tests about as good as his sire, has inherited a color or pattern that I especially want to keep in the line, and the A papered colts have not, I may leave him intact as a back-up until I do get an A papered colt with the desired genes.

Or, since my stable can afford it now, I might geld the B's and purchase GMT tokens to give the A papered boys their missing gene. It only costs one token to do this, no matter how expensive the gene might be to put on a foundation.

  • Sorry to hijack @Gallifreyan, but @Sandy are you saying that if I go to put kit M on my KP mare, it will only cost me 1 GMT not 40?! I've been saving up to buy some! She has kit M on either side of her parents but somehow she missed both copies lol!

  • I think that's how it works @AztecArabians since both the parents have it. Its just the foundation horses that cost more because you're introducing a completely new gene. Please correct me if I'm wrong lol
  • You were right - thank you both so much!

This filly thanks you both too :))
