Question about KP
  • Abbey RoadAbbey Road
    Is KP carried ON the Kit gene or is it separate? In other words, if a parent horse is carrying KP and it's heterozygous tobiano (and isn't kit on the other gene) if the foal didn't inherit the tobiano can it still inherit the KP?

    And, if a horse is carrying (hetero) KP and is say, roan and tobiano, is the KP associated with only one or the other?

    As far as I know it isn't linked to KIT, simply that it needs two KIT genes to show. But I could be wrong!
