Stable images have to be posted on an image hosting site that allows direct linking--that is, linking to just a picture, not to the whole page that it's on.

Imgur will do this, I think, but I'm not sure if it's appropriate for stable images. Photobucket is another one. Whatever the site is, there should be something about direct linking posted on the site, and a place where the exact URL you need is listed. For instance, I already had an account at PBase, a photo hosting site that charges an annual fee, so that's where I have posted all my HaJ images. On the Edit this Image page, the format for linking to a picture is clearly stated. It starts with the URL of the website, includes my user name, the number of the image, and the size I want used. I have to change the size from Medium to Original, but otherwise, I copy the whole linking URL and post it here.

So the URL labeled for direct linking is the one that you should post at the "edit my default image" page.
