Another color suprise

    Is this filly "back palomino"
    I have her marked as a black chestnut then realized her official name is chocolate palomino. From the small fleck of color you can see its pretty dark

    Possibly. She has DP on both sides of her pedigree. With so little color and so much white I would be very reluctant to say she is definitely DP DP...though breeding her may help you confirm since if she is DP DP Ssty Ssty, every Foal she throws will be _ DP _ Ssty. If you keep her bred to all red based Ssty Ssty horses then if she's double DP every Foal will be Liver/Chocolate.

    She'll be ready to start breeding next month. For her first few season I'll try to keep all studs bred to her red based. I'm really curious about whether she's black or not. Not sure I've seen a "black palomino"

    This is my "black palomino." He's darker than usual because he's also homozygous for S+ instead of just Ssty.

    S+ doesn't make them any darker. :)

    My observation of S+ with DP is that it enhances the dapples. Here a couple of my "black palominos" with regular sooty, one with dapples and one without:

    Breeding high quality Sheldasen horses. Liver chestnut, DP mushroom, and rose gray riding horses. Dun cobs with all the patterns. Watercolor, Wrong Warp and ice on mixed body types.

New Genetics Guide!

Our brand new gene guide can be found in the "Resources" section of the navigation, or by clicking underlined genes on the gene testing results. Right now only scientifically documented genes have been added but I look forward to adding all our other genes very soon.

Barn expansions using DTs are now permanently half the price. Also, you can now reset your horse's "Foals this Season" count to zero using a DT. To celebrate both, DTs are 10% off for the next 10 days.

Golden Tokens have been renamed Diamond Tokens to prevent mixing them up with GMTs.

Double boosted over cap horses are now designated as ****Star or ****Gold, again to prevent further member confusion issues I have been seeing.
