Requirements for KP?
-
I know a horse needs to be homozygous for KP in order for it to show, but which Kit gene(s) does a horse need in order for KP to be expressed? Looking through the KP breeders club, it seems like a copy of sabino might be necessary?User ID: 14762

No, just two Kit pattern genes. Any two will do, including W20. They can be the same or different, just as long as it isn't a lethal combination.
Remember KP expression is random and it may be minimally expressed. You may need to reroll to get an image that shows it well. In addition it may not show well on an exfensively white horse.
You will see a lot of sabinos in the clubs because it used to be that Sab 1-3 weren't lethal with W3-4, so you had a lot more available combos with sabino. With the introduction of W10 and W20, the kit lethalities had to be overhauled to what they are now and that meant a lot of us had to completely rethink our KP herds.
