I have been playing this game a long time. In fact, my six year anniversary is in a few weeks. I’ve cleared my entire stock and restarted, changed breeding goals and suddenly discovered superior colts that threw my entire breeding program for subsequent generations into chaos. I also tend to get a little bored with breeding upper generations because my colour goals become less defined in the search for superior breeders, leading to an often boring (to me) herd of upper gen mares that don’t fit into any one line or herd thrown together with whatever plain bay stallion manages to make the cut.

But this time, that’s not the case. I have been slowly, steadily, improving my upper gen mare herd and I’ve been rewarded handsomely. Please meet YerAWizard, an even bred gen 7 colt with wrong warp, watercolor, chinchilla and macchiato, superior to sire and AGA my bootstrap stallions. I think he’s probably pretty close to the ceiling, but I will be hoping to produce a superior son from him as I plan to scrap my era 0 bootstrap herd in favour of his offspring.

While he is mostly homebred, I would like to acknowledge @HTRanch and her gorgeous Arkenstone and @LionSeal and her stunning Brave Counsel, both in his foundation pedigree and both contributing some fabulousness to him.

This has been a huge week for me—frame is going up on the house build, good things happening in my personal real life, and now this colt is quite the cherry on top for me! What milestone foal did you get this season?

How do I get started with bootstrapping?

I've got a pretty basic understanding of papering, breeding levels, etc., which I'm using to work on my established lines. But I really want to try and break into bootstrapping for show and awards purposes. I am beginning to earn awards for my 2nd/3rd gens but I love seeing other players talk about their bootstrap projects!

I'm essentially looking for some advice as to how to get started. I know that when line breeding, the rules are different for quality when spaying mares vs when you are bootstrapping, and with bootstrapping the emphasis is on the stallions. So does that mean I should start with foundation low papered mares and breed to an established high papered stud ABOVE foundation/2g? Or should I breed evenly at first and then branch when I enter the different generations?

THEN my question is, when bootstrapping, are you breeding specifically for PT? In which case you definitely would run some testing on the foals. Or consistency/paper levels/etc.

Obviously color is no longer a massive concern. I will probably keep one or two of my lines going but if I'm going to change up my goals, color and genes will matter to me a lot less.

If you have any examples as to what a "good" bootstrap goal would look like I would appreciate that as well!

I have an idea for a new tack pack! I think we should have one that's barn/stable scenery! Like stalls (inside the stalls AND like next to their doors/walls in the aisle), wash areas, barn/stable wall outside, round pen, tack room, aisle with grooming kit next to stalls, aisle with farrier tools/horseshoes next to stall walls, etc!

I am looking for 2 maybe 3 Mushrooms. Not to expensive but do not have to be free either. I would like 2 years old please. If any one out there has some they would be willing to part with. I just got the Mushroom gene and I now have a little guy who needs some little girls to grow up with him and have a family with. I decided to make him quite a bit fancier in the GMT lab. He started out as a plain chestnut with so little white factor that his rabicano didn't show up. Of course, it still doesn't show with the Sabino 2 and White 20 giving him quite a bit of white, but that's okay.
