Y'all probably saw my last post about me looking for an unbred hidden gates to do some work on.. Well guess what.

01 Hide My Wallet

I found one! So I was thinking, and this is what I could do.

I could either afford to buy a 10 pack of GMT tokens, or i could splurge and buy some closed genes with that money. If I bought the tokens, I could add either kit promoter or gulastra plume..and who knows what I could add on the first.

I'm having problems here guys. What do you think would look good on my boy? (I'm definitely gonna wait and see what good on sale, but I just wanna know everyone's opinion)

I'm not much for plain jane chesnuts. I keep some on hand for working with my DP line and whatnot, but the plain ones just are my cuppa tea. Well, I've been trying to decide what to do with ALL. THESE. CHESTNUTS. I have quite a surplus somehow and I find that I usually end up dumping their foals. I have a whole buncha ladies I didn't know what to do with because they don't really fit anywhere (silvers, champagnes, chestnuts) because my lines are maturing. So what to do, what to do? Why, create ANOTHER line of course! =))

Consistency?

I've been culling very strictly for consistency since I started. I only breed consistent horses, with maybe one exception in my herd of mares.

How important do you guys feel consistency is? Is it hereditary? Do you feel it has a big impact on the quality of the offspring from that horse?

Cloning Question

When you clone a foundation horse, the clone will obviously show as a foundation. But if I clone a lined horse, will the family tab show the line, or will it show as a foundation? Also, it says that just because a horse passed BA does not mean the clone will. Why is that? I’m just leery of spending that much to clone a horse and it might not pass BA.

I finally bred my very first gold papered filly today! As an added bonus she passed testing and picked up s+ from her sire. Her sire was also the very first star papered stallion I ever bred. She was a lovely unexpected surprise finish to my breeding season :D

So I’m going through my pasture and found this little guy.

II Caller Me Happy Zib
He’s the second brindle I’ve bred, he has all the genes I want. He also is out of my favorite stallion. So saying I was happy to find him is an understatement.

Then a couple foals later I found this guy.

I was beyond shocked. I only bred 60 mares this year and I got 2 brindles?

I finished looking through my foals and no more surprises. Then today I was looking through my brindle horses on the search page and I saw a white colt that I didn’t think should have been in the search. Anyway I genetic tested him (since I hadn’t done that yet) and he was actually a brindle! I rerolled his portate and now you can see it. He got his name for how he announced himself (and from his dad)

So i recently did some hard thinking while doing a mass cull of a lot of my horses and i made a decision. I have decided that while i am now being super strict with my foals, it doesn't mean everyone has to be! So with the new Roving Sales thing going on, i have decided to create a special open gene stud that i can share with everyone, RULES FREE! You can breed him to whatever mare you want, foundation or lined, don't have to test the foals if you don't want to, it's completely up to you. Meanwhile, back in my barn, his foals will be getting thoroughly and strictly tested and culled for my breeding specifications :) He is far from finished however. I would absolutely LOVE to add KP but that's not currently looking promising (but with the longer time for GMT, i can save up for a month or two) and i was really hoping to wait and see is snowflake goes on sale sometime soon :D If i was a big barn, he'd be decked out with Sooty+, White 3, and Kit M too but lets not get too crazy (One day lol but that day is not today) :)) Once i decide he is perfect and finished, then i will make a formal post advertising him for straws (Sorry, straws only unfortunately. I'll be using him in my pastures. I will however post foals from him for sale that don't meet my personal requirements!). So keep your eyes out everyone! I can't wait to share him!
