The purpose of the private chat rooms is to allow the owner to regulate who has access to their horse sales and breedings. Any rules or restrictions you set are between you and the players you've allowed to join that chat room. If you set your chat room for public access it is essentially the same as using the public forums. If that is the case, then H&J cannot help you when it comes to enforcing rules and requests you have set up for your private chat rooms. We will, however, enforce the no drama rule, so any interactions with other players about infractions of chat room rules need to be civil, and not aired on the public forums.

Along the same lines;

While we all know that most people putting horses up for sale as gifts, have the best and kindest intentions, we also recognize that there are players out there who may not know why a horse is for sale cheap, they just know it is and buy it, and others who just don't care. Just be aware that you are taking a chance when you put those horses up for reduced prices.

And, please be aware:

There have been a lot of sales of "Secret Santa" horses this past week. Since the point of Secret Santa is to select gifts BASED ON THE RECIPIENTS likes and dislikes, it is difficult to justify how sales BEFORE ASSIGNMENTS can be designated for Secret Santa gifts. It is not breaking any rules to do so, but it does have an affect on the one-on-one/individualized nature of Hunt & Jumps Secret Santa game.

Last year we had a number of people running private games and giveaways, and while I TOTALLY encourage that, it occasionally got confused with the OFFICIAL H&J Secret Santa game.

I would like to reserve the term "Secret Santa" for the event that will be running on both servers, for the month of December, please? Knowing this crowd I can't WAIT to see the names y'all might come up with instead! Evasive Elf, anyone? Horsey Holidays? This could be FUN!

Please be thoughtful about Sales and Breeding thread titles. There have been a BUNCH, recently, of people saying "saving for a barn", "3 more IVs to get my last GMT". While those aren't, in and of themselves, against the rules, they are coming rather close to asking for handouts or "sympathy purchases".

No individual person is to blame. If we see BLATANT begging the whole thread will be deleted. You will know for a fact that you have made a mistake. If neither Ammit, myself, or Triple Spiral has said anything to you YOU ARE FINE!

Asking for help in learning HOW TO MAKE money, or for help managing your show herd to make more money, is FANTASTIC! And STRONGLY ENCOURAGED!

Every horse, except the one that places last in a class, is awarded a certain number of points which go into their permanent record. The exact number of points depends on where a horse places in the class. Higher level classes have more horses in them and award more points, generally speaking. Local classes tend to award fewer points than higher grade classes. These points are the source of your daily Showing Bonus. Every night at rollover, you will receive a showing bonus that is currently equal to about 75% of all the points that all your horses have gained to that point. Horses keep these points when they are bought and sold, and never lose them, even when they have leveled off. So, the more horses you have showing, the more points you will collect, and the higher your Showing Bonus will be.

HAJ turns 12 years old tomorrow (June 1st). For the length of the games history it has been my sole project. I've had some help for sure but it's always been me doing the vast bulk of the work. I've learned so much over the years, and the game has come so far, but one person can only do so much. That is why I am thrilled to officially announce a major change to the game and the business.

For the first time ever I am handing off a bunch of the work on the game to an offsite team. The first thing they will be doing is updating the functionality of the site, and cleaning up the display, making it easier to use than ever. I have seen the initial designs already come back and WOW are you guys going to love it. There are features they are looking to add they I never asked them for but YOU guys have asked for in the past. The specialise in making phenomenal user experiences and their expertise is already showing. The work is expected to take most of the summer and to celebrate this years anniversary event is all about our Summer Refresh.

The game is getting its refresh but what can you expect?

How to enter
Reply to this thread with images and links to a set of 10 show horses you own. They should be tacked up and ready for summer fun.

Rules
Every horse MUST be using one of the new Summer Refresh Tack Pack backgrounds.
You may use any other basic or tack pack tack items you have access too.
You can enter with as many game accounts as you own but only one entry per account.

Judging
I will be selecting winners largely at random but I do want to see a cohesive theme or direction with your herd.
I want to see good effort put into tacking these horses up in a way that looks cool. They should look show ready.
Number of winners will be picked based on number of entries.

Prizes!
I am giving away copies of the genes that are/have been on sale. (That includes mushroom, the closed gene, GMT genes and still unreleased genes) I plan on giving away at least $100 worth of genes. Exact amount will vary based on entries.

Would you like to help out the game and become a much love member of the team? Here is what I need:

We have two games, "spot the differences" and "odd man out".

Spot the difference: provide 4 images of the same horse. The first image is the start. The three other images are each slightly different from the start image. This is normally done by editing tack. Though I have changed markings in photoshop or with rerolls before too.

Example:

Odd Man Out: Find a collection of 8 horses with a specific gene or gene combo, and one more horse who is the odd man out and does not have the gene/combo. They do not need to be the same body type or owned by you. Just need 9 images.

Example:

How to submit your images: Save your 4 or 9 images to your local computer. Then upload them to an image hosting site (imgur.com recommended) as an album and link the album here. OR if possible, you can link to the horse pages, this is really only an option for Odd Man Out though.
